Dear Parents and Carers,

Sad and Happy News from FANS!

It is with a sad heart that I have to announce that I have decided to retire at the end of this academic year. From the day I started here in January 2008, I can honestly say that my 16 years at FANS have been some of the best of my teaching career. FANS holds a special place in my heart and while sad to go, I am happy to be able to look forward to spending more time with precious family, including three (soon to be four) gorgeous grandchildren!

I have had the privilege of being Head of an exceptional school and team celebrating many happy events: 80 years as a nursery school, several outstanding OFSTED inspection outcomes, forest adventures, 100s of children experiencing the outstanding and exciting environment as well as the fun and laughter that always abounds in our school community. I have felt very lucky to work alongside amazing colleagues through the difficulties of the pandemic, challenging budgets, the recruitment and retention crisis and several difficult bereavements of staff, parents and children. I pay tribute to my team displaying the best of attitudes and maintaining our ethos always to put children and families first.

While only the second school I have worked in, previously at Badocks Wood and totalling 24 years serving families in the North of the city, it feels the right time to leave.

Exciting times are ahead for both myself and FANS. Of course, I will keep you informed of our recruitment for a future Head to carry on the amazing work here at FANS.

Thank you so much for all your support – I’m glad to enjoy a couple more terms with you all! See you Monday!
