Filton Avenue Nursery School was featured in Bristol Live’s recent news story about the upcoming changes to Ofsted gradings. In the article, which you can read here, Filton Avenue Nursery School is called out as one of three nursery schools in Bristol rated as Outstanding.

The nursery, in Horfield, was universally praised by Ofsted as staff were noted for their care. Ofsted said: “We saw children who had only recently started at the nursery wave off their parents happily.”

Children are able to leave the school being well-prepared for primary school life, by staff encouraging children to plan and embrace learning. Children, in response, are able to learn with a “positive buzz”. The leaders at the school have created a school that says to everyone; “You matter,” according to the report.

The report said: “The nursery is extremely well led. The headteacher and assistant headteacher work as a strong, effective team.

“They are ambitious for all children, wanting them to be as well prepared as possible for their next schools. They lead with the conviction that all children can become confident, capable learners if they have the right support.

“Leaders keep the needs of children at the heart of what they do. They ensure that teaching throughout the nursery helps every child to achieve the absolute best outcomes they can. This includes children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).”

As always, we appreciate the incredible children, parents and staff who have such a fantastic impact on our nursery school.
