Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had a glimmer of Summer, and what a difference it has made to us, the children, and our grounds and gardens! Please be ready for the sun by sending your children in with sun hats (we have some), water bottles, and sun cream applied before the children come to school. Please give spare named sun cream to your child’s keyperson, and we can help them reapply if they stay all day.
Thank you to all of you who have responded to Johnny’s request for volunteers for cooking. We are always happy to have volunteers to cook, read, play with the children or even come in to help sort and put our resource room into order! Please speak to us if you have a little bit of time to spare.
This is just a reminder that there are still ongoing viruses out there. If your child is running a temperature and feeling unwell, we would appreciate it if you would keep them off school until better. Please do communicate with the office on 0117 3772680. Thank you.
Last term I announced my retirement at the end of the academic year and consequently we have been fortunate to recruit a lovely new Headteacher for FANS. Her name is Kate Tector, and she currently works at Avonmouth Primary. She is very keen to meet those of you returning to us in September and, of course, all our new children and families. I am sure she will be made most welcome by the FANS community.
As well as welcoming a new Head, we are saying Goodbye to Sarah Masters, who currently works in Acorns. Sarah has worked at FANS for over 16 years both in the Nursery and Acorns. She spent many years working in the Holiday Club and After School Club, as well as supporting our SENCo role. We thank her for her dedication and commitment to us and will really miss her lovely presence about the place and wish her all the very best in her new role with a Family support team in another county. Sarah’s last day is Thursday 23rd May. Thank you Sarah, we will really miss you!
Dates to Remember
- Friday 24th May – Last day of term 5
- Monday 3rd June – Term 6 starts
- Saturday, June 29th, 10:00am – 12:00pm – FANS Summer Fair (Volunteers are wanted, and there will be a selection of stalls, face painting, etc. Details to follow.)
- Wednesday 3rd July – New Parents Evening – Acorns 4:00pm – 5:00pm, Nursery 5:00pm – 6:00pm.You are warmly invited to come and find out about how September will look for you and your child. Unfortunately we are not able to provide a creche on this occasion.
- Wednesday 10th July, 4:00pm – 5:00pm – Returning Parents Evening. Please speak to your child’s key person if you would like a time slot to talk anything over before your child’s transition to their Reception class.
- Friday 19th July – Last day of term, no normal session. Instead, you are invited to attend our annual picnic with your child between 11:30am and 2:30pm to celebrate your time with us and to say goodbye.
Enjoy the rest of the term. Don’t forget to use our book loan service, located outside each classroom, check your child’s draw for ‘special things’ and ask your child what they are learning about at the moment. It’s fascinating listening!!
