Following our core story The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the Acorns embarked on a real-life journey of transformation by raising their very own butterflies!

We began with tiny caterpillars, carefully feeding and observing them as they grew. The children were fascinated by the changes they saw each day, asking questions, making predictions, and sharing their thoughts with one another. This hands-on experience brought the butterfly lifecycle to life in the most exciting way!

Through this project, the children developed:

Empathy: by caring for living creatures.

Patience and cooperation: as they took turns and worked together.

Language and communication skills: by describing what they saw and telling butterfly stories.

Imaginative play: as they fluttered around pretending to be butterflies during group time story telling!

This experience offered a valuable combination of science, storytelling, and social development. We were really pleased with how engaged, thoughtful, and cooperative the children were throughout the process.
