We had some fun in the sun with limes! The Children’s Kitchen gave us lots of limes to explore this week. We gave the children cut up limes and hand juicers to experiment with.
Using the hand juicers encourages children to use and develop strong muscles in their hands and fingers.
As they hold the lime down, twisting and turning on the juicer, they are developing rotation in their wrists. All very important for learning to write later at school. It’s also a valuable opportunity to talk about different tools and using language for measuring.
Some of the braver children even tried dipping their fingers in the lime juice and tasting it! There was a lot of giggling and laughter at the sour flavour.
