Children in Acorns Room at Filton Avenue Nursery School have been exploring mark making in some really lovely ways this term.
Outside in the garden, the children have been making the most of our brand new acorn shaped chalk board, creating marks, patterns and drawings in the fresh air. Indoors, the children have also been “writing” about their families in our family book, which has been a really meaningful and personal way to practise early writing skills whilst celebrating the people who matter most to them.
These experiences are a wonderful foundation for early literacy, helping children develop pencil control, express their ideas and begin to understand that marks and symbols carry meaning.
