Nursery (3-4 Years)

Welcome to Beech and Willow

We offer two classrooms (Willow and Beech) for 3- to 4-year-old pre-school children, providing high-quality learning and care.

Each child is entitled to 15 hours a week. Additionally, we offer paid wrap-around sessions for working parents. We also offer a limited number of 30-hour-per-week places for eligible families – please click on this link for more information. Extra hours and support are also provided for children with additional needs or those from families experiencing difficulties at home.

Attending nursery school provides children with a tremendous opportunity to form relationships outside of their family, as well as share and work with other children. They develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes to equip them for life in a changing world, as well as critical personal qualities such as resilience, independence and self-esteem.

During each session, there are opportunities for children to engage in self-chosen learning and with group activities planned by the teacher and nursery nurses.

To ensure that starting nursery is a happy experience for children and parents, staff carefully consider each child’s disposition during the settling-in period. This may mean that some children need a more extended induction period before they are ready to stay for the hours without their parent or carer.

We visit all children at home before they start nursery. This provides an opportunity for parents to share information about their child, enabling us to plan for their learning needs. Each child has their own key person who records their learning and development and builds a special relationship with the whole family.

Teacher’s efforts to develop very supportive relationships with children and their parents and carers are exemplary. They are determined to provide every child with a very wide, stimulating and enjoyable range of learning activities.
