This week in the Acorns Room at Filton Avenue Nursery School, the children sowed sunflower and carrot seeds as part of their early years learning. After planting the seeds, the children were keen to water them regularly and check to see if they were growing.

Planting activities like this support children’s learning through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) by encouraging curiosity, observation and an understanding of growth and change over time. Caring for the seeds also helps children develop a sense of responsibility and patience as they wait for the first signs of growth.
