Dear Families,

I am writing to inform you that a Red Weather Warning for extreme heat has been issued for this area. You can find further information about what this means on the Met Office website here:

Please note that we intend to be open as normal tomorrow. The below arrangements will apply on Wednesday and Thursday only, if the Red Warning remains in place.

In order to help keep the children and staff safe during these extreme conditions, we are planning the following arrangements:

  • The nursery will close early at 12:30pm on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
  • Children who usually leave at 11:45am will go home as normal.
  • Children staying all day will need to be collected promptly at 12:30pm after they have eaten their packed lunch.

We would really appreciate your support in helping to keep your child comfortable and safe by ensuring they:

  • Wear lightweight, loose, and breathable clothing suitable for hot weather
  • Bring labelled suncream (already applied before arrival)
  • Bring a clearly labelled hat
  • Bring a labelled water bottle

Any wraparound care, including after-school club, will be cancelled and will be credited for returning children and refunded for those starting school in September.

If you are planning to keep your child at home during this extreme heat wave, we would be grateful if you could let us know, as this will help us to plan staffing appropriately.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will update you if there are any changes – please keep an eye on your emails.

Thank you for your continued support.
