At Filton Avenue Nursery School, the children in Acorns Room embarked on a delightful sensory adventure inspired by We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. We created an immersive learning environment featuring a cozy storytelling den draped with colorful fabrics and twinkling lights, where children gathered eagerly to hear the story. The exploration continued with a specially designed sensory tray that brought the story’s landscape to life – complete with blue playdough “water” to splash through, twigs representing the forest and soil for the mud.
The children were engaged as they manipulated these natural materials, recreating scenes from the story while developing their fine motor skills and imaginative play. This hands-on approach to storytelling enhanced their literacy development and fostered collaborative exploration as they worked together to navigate the bear hunt’s exciting terrain.
